Have you ever wanted to try something so much that it became an obsession? When I heard about Tate's Chocolate Chip Cookies in magazines, newspapers and on television I had to try them. A rich, buttery, crispy chocolate chip cookie is one of my ultimate comfort foods. Imagine my excitement when I was contacted by Tate's Bake Shop and given the opportunity to share these world class award winning treats with one lucky reader.

I will announce the winner on the Monday.
I love to hear these kind of success strories. Growing up on a Long Island farm, Ms. King began baking when she was "knee high to a grasshopper" and now, some four decades later, sells her confections in 40 States. In Brockville, Ontario there is a bake shop called Tait's that has a loyal following of it's own but Tate's in Southampton is actually named for Kathleen King's father who cultivated potatoes on his local farm. He is not a statuesque man at 4'11" and received the nickname "Little Tater". This was eventually shortened to just "Tate". That's how iconic Tate's (Bake Shop) was born as a tribute to Ms. King's father.

As a special treat here is their recipe for Tate's signature chocolate chip cookies from the cookbook...just in case you don't win. Remember you can also order from their site in time for the holidays to get your fix too!!
**Tate's Chocolate Chip Cookies**
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup salted butter, 2 sticks
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
1 teaspoon water
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 large eggs
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Grease or line 2-3 cookie sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and salt.
In another large bowl, cream the butter and sugars, then add the water and vanilla. Mix until just combined. Add eggs to the butter mixture and mix them lightly. Stir in the flour mixture. When flour is mixed in, fold in the chocolate chips.
Drop 2 tablespoonfuls of the cookie dough 2-inches apart onto prepared cookie sheets. Make sure the cookie sheets are well greased. I like to use parchment paper.
Bake for 12-17 minutes for crispy cookies or until the edges and centers of the cookies are golden brown. Remove from oven and allow to cool on wire racks.
