If this photo looks familiar it is taken at the same place as my header photo looking north up Lake Okanagan.
The yellow flower is a Spring wildflower...Arrowleaf Balsamroot. You know Spring has arrived when these sunflowery faces dot the hillsides. They are very abundant in our dry interior. I have never seen so many, the fields along the trails were almost completely covered in bright yellow blooms.
Did you know... the Arrowleaf Balsamroot is the official flower of Kelowna?
This is my photo of the day...I will be cooking up a storm later in the week!!
What a pretty place to take a hike! You're so lucky to live in such a pretty area!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely place to spend Mothers Day.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo Val! I hope you enjoyed your day!

ReplyDeleteI celebrated a pre-Mother's Day yesterday, but my sisters and I did make lunch for our mom! (10 more weeks to go for me.)

ReplyDeleteI think you live in heaven Valli!
ReplyDeleteWhat a serene looking place - I would love to do the hike at sunup - I think it must be gorgeous. Glad you had a good Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photo!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad others appreciate wildflowers! Since I'm a botanist I always imagine no one will find them as interesting as I do.
ReplyDeleteOur state flower is Oregon grape (Mahonia), which is a scrubby, spiny shrub. Boo.
Your header photo is one of my very favorites, and this companion photo is lovely...such pretty wildflowers, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a breathtaking view Val, I could never get tired of looking at that! Sounds like you had a wonderful Mothers Day with your sweet daughter!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you had a great Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteYes, we have been paired up for Taste and Create. It will be nice to know spring is around there. Here,it is the height of summer and very hot. Am looking forward to the rains which should be here next month!
Thak you one and all for all the kind comments. Yes I did have a wonderful Mother's Day, glad to hear all of you did as well:D
ReplyDeleteHeather: I used to know all the names of the local plants. We also have Oregon Grape. My boss makes jam from the berries.
Great picture, Val! It seems you had a wonderful day!!! Lovely :D
ReplyDeleteO dear...was here this morning too to tag you for the same one, but blogger ate up my mail & shut the system down. Same error repeating. Wrote to say that I was so glad you had such a fab MD in such a peaceful, picturesque & beautiful place. Also, was here to say that I was here to tag you, coincidentally, for a picture meme. Can see Rosie's already tagged you!! Great minds think alike I guess, dear Val...(we shall not utter the second half of that phrase; tee hee)!! I shall
ReplyDeleteWe usually go for a hike on Mother's Day, but my son had a birthday party & I hat to enforce myself on him this one day when I have at least 10 more years to do that. So, my husband took us out to eat all weekend (he doesn't cook.... at all!). Glad to hear that you had a great day!
ReplyDeleteAll of your photos are outstanding. They really highlight your talent. I'm drawn to the Moroccan Lemon Preserves..... I have a new tagine calling my name.
xoxox Amy
i don't know if you took this photo, but it really is beautiful.
ReplyDeletei'm checking out your creations and i can see you love healthy sandwiches, things in a pastry crust, patties (rissoles, fritters, whatever you call it), and carbohydrates.
all these foods are very yummy - the kind of food kids eat, the kind of cooking i like.
i must get back to the kitchen - lentil soup is bubbling away - and if you want to laugh a little, search out my story about OLIVE PATE or TASTE SENSATIONALISM, which depicts what can go wring in greek cooking, and the consequences thereof...
